Oh dear.

It has been brought to my attention that "Happy Sock" is a colorful euphemism, as well as a cat toy. "Let us never speak of it again."

Welcome to Operation Happy Sock!

But just what is a Happy Sock?

A Happy Sock is a cat toy made out of catnip, poly fiberfill, and an old sock. They were first created by Martha Powers as a low cost cat comfort for homeless felines living in shelters.

Martha states in her blog: "Happy Sock catnip toys are more than mere playthings for stressed-out cats in strange surroundings. A whiff of catnip can be very therapeutic, and a soft, fluffy Happy Sock is the feline equivalent of a cuddly teddy bear. Since many shelters have no budget for toys, these big, generous Happy Socks are a very special and welcome donation."

Inspired, I have decided to start a Los Angeles Operation Happy Sock! Be sure to visit again for updates, pictures, and how to get involved yourself!
